  Just a Quick Catch-Up!
Posted on: October 29, 2008 by Drew

Hello there podcast listeners! It seems that I have missed a few updates, so allow me to catch-up on the latest in one post. So here is a rundown of the latest episodes available at iTunes and other major podcast sites on the web...

Episode 15, parts one and two were recorded during a visit Roger made to New Jersey. We sat at the bar in my recording studio and talked about beer, home brewing, and during part two the conversation kind of morphed into some crypto-cast and we started talking about Bigfoot and stuff.

Episode 16: Roger and Drew continue the great adventure which began on episode 12 during their spelunking cast. They discovered a large metal door at the end of an underground cavern, Roger opens it up and.... Here we are, tossed into an ongoing adventure which will reappear every few episodes. One cast will lead into another, each bringing with it a new topic of discussion. Enjoy! We're trying to make them entertaining as well as informative, and we're trying to have some fun for ourselves at the same time.

Episode 17 - Tech Talk: This is the first of our tech casts which we hope to bring back from time to time. During this cast my father explains a little about the difference between LCD and Plasma widescreen TVs, and other kinds of video technology. Interesting.

Episode 18 - Halloween Special: Dennis joins us again from his house via the internet, to talk about the origins of Halloween, urban legends, bizarre Halloween stories and more. I hope to have Dennis back for more expisodes in the future. Roger actually gets me to shut up long enough so he can talk about the Celtic origins of Halloween.

More to come. You can listen to these episodes right here with the Podcast Pickle Player....

We've been recording a podcast weekly, though they don't always get online the same week we record them. I'm working toward being very fresh and timely, as well as a potentially doing a live internet broadcast of the show periodically, in the future. More to come...

  CPRS #10 Handy Physics!
Posted on: November 14, 2007 by Drew Vics

Here it is. At long last, I've completed my interview with P. Erik Gundersen, author of The Handy Physics Answer Book and Supervisor of Instruction for the Pascack Valley Regional High School District Science Department.

We talk about his career, how he became interested in physics and he explains Bernoulli's Principle and how it relates to sailboats and curveballs. We had questions from friends which Erik was more than happy to answer and discuss. We actually had some fun with this interview. If you'd like to hear more about physics in future episodes let us know. Email your questions for Erik and we'll try and get him back again to talk some more.

Enjoy!

  Okay, so we missed Halloween
Posted on: 11/09/07 by Drew

Sorry about that. In the last post I implied that we may do a Halloween podcast, but we failed to realize that. Anyway, there is something to look forward to. In a previous episode Sean and I discussed the Handy Physics Answer Book written Erik Gundersen. Well, I managed to grab a bit of Erik's time and we had a nice interview which I will be uploading shortly. I promise!

We discussed Erik's involvment in High School science and physics, revising and updating physics texts, his book, and had a few questions for him to respond to, like the physics behind a breaking curve ball, Bernoulli's Principle and more. Interesting stuff, and a great interview I think, and I do plan on having him back on again for some more science discussions. So stay tuned for that.

Well, that's all for now. I just wanted to touch base and let you all know we're still here, and plan on more episodes of the Cosmic Pirate Radio Show. If you have ideas for future topics, weird news or just want to say "hi" please contact us through our Cosmic Contact Form.

More later...

Episode 7 - Hello Helen! Updates and more.
Posted on: 2/2/07 by Drew

Hey Folks,

It's been a while since our last podcast. Happy New Year to you! So in this latest cast — really more like outtakes, quite candid — Sean tells us about his adventures in Brooklyn with some friends, including Helen, then he talks about some recent Geocaching adventures, and even interviews me about my latest CD project.

We also mention Neil Peart, drummer and lyricist for the band Rush, while talking about my drum set and recording process. In late 2006 they were recording at a studio in the Catskills, in New York State. You can see a picture of his drum kit and microphone setup used during recording here: http://www.neilpeart.net/news/index.html.

We talk about my wife's cousin P. Erik Gundersen and his book the Handy Physics Answer Book. Sean and I discuss plans for a possible interview with Erik on an upcoming podcast about science and technology.

Our plan is to start featuring specific topics within certain categories to keep future podcasts more organized and entertaining, as well as informative. We'll deal with categories like science and technology, hobbies, outdoors, and others yet unknown. So stay tuned for more! Thanks for listening!

-Drew
